Why conserve?

How to conserve?

Forest

It is the habitat of many plants and animals

It maintains the balance of oxygen and carbon dioxide in the air

It is a major source of materials, food, medicine

Reforestation

Disallow extensive logging

Wildlife

Animal species are becoming extinct

Set up conservation area, reserves and zoos to protect animal species

Introduce conservation laws which prohibits hunting and collection of endangered species

Fuel
(coal, oil, natural gas, etc)

They are non-renewable

 

Use alternative energy sources. E.g. solar energy, hydro-electric energy, geothermal energy

Water

Only 1% of the water on Earth is fresh water

Reduce. E.g. Avoid taking long baths

Reuse – E.g. Water from the washing machines can be used to wash the toilet

Educate the public on the importance of water conservation

Minerals
(gold, iron, oxides, chlorides, etc)

They are non-renewable

 

Recycling materials like metals, glass, etc
