There are a large number of confusing words. The following pose common problems among students.

a basic idea or rule that explains or controls how something happens or works

first in order of importance
(or someone who is in charge of a school)

E.g.

The team works on the principle that all members play an equally important role.

E.g.

(or a region, usually sandy, with extreme temperature)

sweet food eaten at the end of a meal

He deserted his wife for another woman.
