  A.2.1. Common errors in additions and subtractions of fractions.
 

 

 

  Example 1
 
The WRONG way We cannot simply add the two fractions as they are of unequal parts.

The CORRECT way For additions, the fractions must be of equal parts.
Step 1 : Make sure the denominators of the fractions are the same.
Step 2 : Add up the numerators of the fraction. Express the fraction in the simplest form if necessary.

Step 1: Make sure the denominators of the fractions are the same.
